We are excited to meet the newest members of our Northgate family. Our goal is to make the transition to kindergarten as easy as possible for you and your child. Some of you may have many questions and might be a bit anxious about this new journey; others are already on this path and maybe know a little bit more. In order to make the enrollment process enjoyable and make the transition to Kindergarten as smooth as possible, we have scheduled several opportunities for us to get to know our newest students and families and for you to get to know our school community.
We host a Welcome to Kindergarten dinner in February for teachers, support staff and other kindergarten families. In March you’ll return for our registration event that includes a variety of family activities. In mid-July, families will receive a welcome letter with information regarding the screening process. This packet will include the day and time for your student’s screening.
Our Kindergarten screening process is conducted in individual 30-minute sessions at each Elementary School. Screenings are held on the first two days of school for the school district. Students will report to their assigned school building on the scheduled day and time for the screening. On these two days, students will only attend school during the screening appointment as Kindergarten is not in session. The first full day of Kindergarten is Monday, August 24 and students should report to their assigned school building at 8:05 am and will be dismissed at 2 pm for a special celebration.
